Children's Programs
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14
One of the most important missions of the church is to educate the children in the grace of God and the unbounded love of Jesus Christ. To this end, St. Mark is dedicated to teaching the children through various programs at the church.
SUNDAY SCHOOL PROGRAM:
St. Mark recently adopted a “Children’s Church” format where the traditional Sunday school classes are taught during the regular Sunday morning church service. This allows the entire family to worship and learn at the same time in age-appropriate settings. The Children’s Church curriculum incorporates Bible stories from both the Old and New Testaments and emphasizes how the stories apply to daily living. We currently have two classes: Kindergarten through third grade and fourth through sixth grade.
NURSERY:
Each Sunday morning, volunteers care for children, infant through preschool, in the church nursery. The nursery is equipped with provisions to care for infants and toys, books and art materials for toddlers and pre-schoolers.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL:
Every summer, St. Mark hosts a week-long Vacation Bible School program for children of the church, their family, friends and neighbors. Our program is staffed by members of the church who lovingly give their time to this fun-filled, week-long learning experience for the children.
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM:
One of the most anticipated and loved traditions of St. Mark is the annual Children’s Christmas Program. Each year, our Children’s Church staff prepares a program for the children which tells the traditional Christmas Story of the birth of Jesus. The children portray the characters in the program which is performed for the congregation and guests. Several Christmas carols are sung and there is always at least one memory-making moment in the program.
In all programs or activities at St. Mark, a special effort is made to welcome the children and have them participate with the congregation. We truly believe that our future is with our children and, in the words of Jesus: “…the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." |
